As the name suggests, in has been dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the nation Major attraction of Gandhinagar are Akshardham Sarita Udyan, Children Park and Indroda Nature park. The buildings of architectural interest are the Legislative assembly and the Town Hall.

Shri Akshar Purshottam Sashay inspired by His Holiness Pramikh Swami Maharaj, made Akshardham in dedication to Lord Swaminarayan. It covers an area of 23 acres. The monument is 108 ft tall it has 6000 tons of pink sandstone. No steel has been used in the structure. It stands on 97 sculpted pillars, 220 single-piece stone beams, 57 window grills, 17 domes, 8 ornate zarokha and a glorious porch filled with delicate forms. The sanctum houses the 1.2-ton gold-leafed idol of lord Swaminarayan. The exhibition gives interactive experiences through audio-video shows and hundreds of sculptures trek. Through the Himalayas… the rope bridge… the dancing musical fountains… robotic animals in the forests… Lord ram in search of Sita…and…the Pandavas in the palace of Hastinapur. The multimedia show traces man's efforts in search of peace and freedom.
